This is a picture of an existing flap valve with a 300mm Fish friendly flap fitted.
The fish friendly flap is basically an upside down flap valve with a floatation tank fitted to the door. the flap sits in the open position and closes as the water rises by the floatation tank lifting in the rising water to the closed position. This structure is situated on a tidal outfall on the River Trent and stops the rising river from flooding up stream. this was fitted in 2014.
